Default Shovelhead FXWG transmission - is this normal?

Hello folks,
I normally post in the Evo forum because that's what I ride but my brother rides a Shovel, has for over 20 years. He pulled his tranny cuz it needs seals. We're wondering if the behavior in this youtube is normal?

who ever that was is a effen moron - the 4th gear or high gear end play the back and forth movement he was showing -- needs the spacer race installed - and the rear chain drive gear installed -- plus the nut needs to be torqued before you get the correct number like .010 thousands with a dial gauge end play - washers are available to correct they go on the inside between the gear and the case race

the early shovel 1966 to early 1977 - and the late - late 1977 to 1985 are a little different to OH - if he needs help - pictures are helpfull - lots of guys on this shovel forum will help and answer any question he has

Thanks John. He's actually a pretty smart guy.
So you're saying that play will be there if the tranny is out and opened up like that? So the end play is measured with the spacer race in, the chain drive gear on and the nut torqued to spec?
I imagine this is all done on the bench and measurement is taken, then disassemble and add spacers if it's not to spec?
Thanks, I'll be back with more questions.
Oh, and, it's a 1980 Wide Glide.

He took it to shop, some guy named Bug. Got a good price and he have it back in a week.
Getting it rebuilt. New countershaft all new bearings and a new fourth gear drive because its worn out. Sprocket was flopping around on there, tore the seal out. That's what he said anyway.

I'm curious to know if it still leaks when it's completed as they did new on the showroom floor. There is a fix to stop main shaft seepage that HD should have done.

What shop is this guy named Bug working at? If it's the guy I'm thinking of he used to work at Kokesh Cycle "back in the day".
