on my 80 FLT, the front of the saddle has a bracket, but there's no corresponding "tongue" bracket on the tank or frame to slip into the seat...am I missing something? Wondering why the seat has it if the rest of the bike doesn't.
there's 2 screws that secure that plastic cover under the nose of the seat; they seem to be in the right location for a bracket , but they're just sheet metal screws, nothing stout enough for a bracket
My Bad - I was looking FLH - The FLT with a solid seat did have a seat and tongue piece 25A - I would bet it bolted under the plastic with the 2 screws. Probably wouldn't be hard to fab one.
yeah, 25A, but I don't find any matching holes for it; my cover seems like it ought to have a slot notched out for it. That pic shows the bracket bolts being side by side, while the cover screws are one above the other. I'll have to pull my cover off and look again. Maybe it mounts beneath the rear of the fuel tank? You're right, fabing one ought to be easy enough.
OK - well you having a Pan, Shovel and TC you know that anyone could have changed out parts over 30 years, but I would have thought you would see the original mounting point. It did have a tab. Maybe there is another FLT owner that could help.
I think early FLTs had the flex comfort sit, with springs
This had no bracket there
So I guess later models had the fdixed seat with the braclet and the correct holes.
Is there any other holes under the plastic cover?
