Default Evo ignition on a Shovelhead

Just wondering if anyone put the evolution ignition kit that Harley Davidson used to sell on their shovelhead. I put one on my '78 shovel about 20 years ago. No problems since. I did not hook up the voes and wonder if their is any advantage to doing so. Thought this would be a good place to ask.

Ummmmmmm, how ya gonna hook up the VOES. Therez no wiring harness in the Shovel system for it. Can't recall when HD started using it but early EVOs did not have it either.

The wire for the voes comes from the ignition box. I just have it taped up now. Not connected to anything.

I mounted the ignition module just above the oil cooler.

Started in 84..all evos had voes...since he is using an evo ignition, all he has to do is hook up the violet wire and a vacuum hose to the voes switch...the advantage would be you could run more timing without pre-ignition...better throttle response and gas mileage.

Would it make enough difference for the trouble of tapping the intake and cost of the switch. I think about $45 for a switch. Motor seems to run great without it. I am not a big throttle twister, just kinda cruise around on the backroads in the country.

As far as the ignition...I like them...The Eldest has been running a Late Ignition on his '75 Sportster for Years.
I ran a Sportster "box" on my FXR until it **** the Bed...
I would absolutely run one again...I would also run a VOES as stated, you can give 'er more advance. Nothing to putting a Vacuum line in I got a Spacer block with one.

I read a story somewhere about a guy burning a hole thru a piston top climbing a decent size hill because he had a bad voes or was disconnected for some reason.

There is plenty of Dumb asses everywhere...
Unhooking [un plugging] a voes leaves an intake leak...one bad enough to effect how the thing runs...Ignoring what the engine is trying too tell ya, is a Problem waiting to have a Bad end.
Can't scare Me...I like the way the VOES works on a Street bike...
