Default Can someone identify this bike?

Hi all - this is listed as a '78 FXS, but I'm not convinced - looking at the the single brake on the front end and the FL style rear fender, I'm stumped...

You can run the VIN to see what it started life as...but right now it is a mix of aftermarket parts.

I agree- a mix of aftermarket parts. The oil tank, rear brake, rear fender as you mentioned, speedometer and exhaust pipes are not original FXS. Frankly, the only things that do look FXS are the seat and the motor.

Sorry I couldn't help you identify it. I'm stumped as well.

What he says + Looks like a springer front end as well. If it is made by DNA, word is that they are lacking in quality. The list of aftermarket probably includes everything but the motor and probably the tranny?

If you are looking for 'close-to-stock' this is not it.

Ok, the VIN is 7G59318H9. So, it's originally a FXS.

I don't really care about close to stock as I'm looking to build a rigid frame bobber.

I think this could be a good candidate - the price is right and its already been molested.

It's a '79 not '78

Then go for it! And if you do start a build thread. It makes great reading and is a good way to get feedback on questions you might encounter along the way.
