Default Primary Belt Drive Wear

Hello all. Doing some work on my 82 fxrs with belt primary and noticed that there is a far amount of wear debris inside the primary from the belt. Is this normal?? There does see. To be wear on the outside edge of the belt.

Bike is new to me and previous owner didnt know when was installed.

Thanks

At first read sounds like and alignment problem.

It's in the service manual. Place a straight edge vertical against the inner primary where the outer bolts to it. Then measure the distance to the belt or sprockets, crank and clutch. Shim the front as necessary. Should be within .030"

The same shim that the chain drive uses...under the front Sprocket...or rotor depending.

There is no FXR with a factory primary belt. So its aftermarket, and 1 3/4" primary drive belts have a 12,000 mile running life typically. (Your results may vary.)
