Compression release or not?
First off, forgive my long post.
I have a customer who brought in an incomplete project, essentially a roller. 1975 FX1200 on a modified 1975 police frame. Motor is a new build, dyna 2000i set to zero dead revs, dyna duel fire single coil, mostly stock internals. After completing wiring, plumbing, fuel system and getting it road worthy, I have it starting reliably (kick only) and wrote down the cold and hot starting procedures for the owner. I am no shovelhead owner but 2 pumps, key off, kick twice, key on, enricher on the super e and kick once. Every time it starts. Well, the owner can't start it. Will manual releases do the trick or do i tell him to buy a scooter?

I priced it for him but wish I would have made a harness to support kick. There's a battery but that's it. I'm going to try to give him some kick start lessons. Seems to me all i do is let my weight fall on the kicker and that's enough. Also i never let it come up all the way. Maybe half way. I weigh maybe 170 with change in my pocket.
