hammering
Well last ride on my 82 fxwg, started out with an odd noise, like rockers tapping ,rode about 300km,,on my way home I opened up,back exhaust bolt worked right out,so i stopped let it cool off then tried limping home ,6 more km,,with blue flame comin out that cyl exhaust,,all of a sudden it started hammering as if the piston had come right thru the head.
So I shut er down ,towed it home,,all i can find so far is oil is black,I topped up oil, kicked it over, same hammering ,but running,,then I noticed oil pressure switch is cracked, oil coming out,so I shut it off,,pulled plugs, front plug black, rear plug tan,,so just wondering any ideas before I start pulling apart?
Anyway I can diagnose without tearing motor down?

sounds hydrauliced... pull the plugs (make damn sure there is no spark) and kick it once.. see if liquid comes out a hole.. (Might want a rag over the thing)
if she don't turn over then, things get serious..
hard start/black smoke/locked motor all point to cylinder full of fuel.. (at least the first thing to eliminate)

plugs out/bike in gear and see if you can get the motor to bump backwards by rolling the bike backwards..
if it does, do not punch it forward until you find out what locked it up... Probably no easy way without a boroscope or a good looksy down the plug holes or in the intake/exhaust ports
