Default 1982 Sturgis Edition FXB - PICS attached

I ran across a 1982 Sturgis Edition FX that a fella would like to sell. It appears to be close to original with only the rear fender modified - he has the original pipes and other parts - does anyone know if this model is worth restoring to near original "glory" - I revive old ironheads and have started on shovels and would be interested in taking this on but I'm unsure if the Sturgis Edition is something to restore or ride as a daily grocery getter - any opinions? I can buy it for under 4 grand. Runs excellent - looks to even have the "Sturgis" engraved top riser clamp. I know the original owner of the bike as well. ferg

They seem to be a bit on the collectible side.....and much sought after.
Also seem to command higher prices than vanilla FXs.

If the price is right, and you enjoy fixin' em' up....I'd go for it.

Doesn't get better than that. I'd definitely own it. I'd restore it AND ride it.

It will definitely be worth a few more bucks then the same bike, same year that doesn't say "Sturgis" all over it. Plus it was one of the nice looking special additions the MoCo made, unlike some of their ugly gold bikes that they like to make (Daytona Dyna anyone!?!?) The overall appearance of a stock one still looks good today, but I am partial to black bikes since they are faster!

Under $4k, go for it.

It looks like a good deal, a Sturgis under 4 G's is a good buy. I wouldn't get to excited about the handle bar clamp as it's aftermarket and those chrome ones are blinding in the sun. Post pix after you buy it and someone will tell you what is correct and what isn't.
Good Luck

I've had my 1982 Sturgis for 21 years. Let me know if you have any questions about them, I'd be happy to help!
