Can anyone post a pic or two of the rear footpeg mounting. This is original frame and case. There are no mount holes in the frame on either side. I got this bike without rear pegs or mounts.

I can't help you, but I wouldn't mind see pics of the whole bike.

This is correct. In 73 they switched to the square swingarm and moved the pegs from the lower shock mount to where they are shown in the picture. In 1978 they moved the pegs to the frame. If your peg mounting tabs aren't there you could have a 79 and up swingarm....

For some reason, I can't post pics right now. Ok I will check the swing arm to see if it has the mount holes.

Hey Mag I looked everywhere for info on my 75' FLH and never found a place that really worked for mounting well. I have bags so the swingarm wasn't really an option. I ended up just mounting highway pegs to the frame.

This bike doesn't have the mounts. They would be on the bottom side of the front end of the swing arm. Go with Ash16's option.

I pulled out an old picture of my 73 FX. It's pure stock condition shows the passenger pegs were mounted to the swing arm. Picture was taken my guess around 78. I'll attempt to attach the pic. If you go to my account page it's shown there. Loved that bike...

Brings up an off topic question for Magnet1. Does your 74 FXE shift on the right like my 73 did? I seem to recall back in the day a big flap over that with AMF/ Harley Davidson.

Thanks

A Note...only The Sportster shifted on the right until after '74...The flap was about the Rube Goldberg setup on '75 and '76 models...the '77-up were naturally left handed..
The original old Superglides shifted Backwards, in that they were one up and 3 down!

BTW I can clearly see the brake lever on that excellent example of an Early SuperGlide....

Racepres, you are correct on the shIft side for the super glide vs. the sportster. I must have had a geazer moment. Confused with the 1969 XLCH Sporty I had just prior to the 73 FX. As I recall it was a challenge for a time to adapt to the difference between the two.
Cheers!
