Default Oil Line mysteries & primary oil level

New to this '83 Shovel, but not to motorcycle wrenching.
Scratching my head trying to figure out a couple of PO mods on this well running machine.
He 'closed' the primary to stock oil circulation so have a couple of clamped off hoses and one that is just open and dangling.
From the sketchy oil line pics in a Clymer manual, the open line appears to be the primary return line. OK...
What i think is the primary supply line is blocked with a bolt and clamp. OK...
The crankcase vent line also appears to be blocked. No line going to the air cleaner. I think it was fouling the filter.

So got a couple questions:
Is there a better oil line diagram online someplace?
Where should i run the crankcase vent line? i assume it is a good thing to do.
What is the proper level of oil in the primary? (sealed from engine oil line).

thanks in advance,
t

the crankcase vent line goes open to the air.
Many people use a small filter at the end that "collects" the oil
I guess you could also run it to the rear chain to oil it (I think the 83 pump doesn't have the chain oiler, not sure)
Oil in the primary is 6-8oz, or right until the oil touches the clutch basket
What oil? People use ATF, primary fluid, motor oil

Thanks Captain!
A google search has turned up a couple of good oil line diagrams too.
Should be back on the road soon...

You should also check and make sure the primary has not been switched to "belt" drive before you put any oil in it.

Courtesy of another forum amd forum member. If you are running an enclosed primary it should look like this...
