What are the best oil pump gaskets. I used James paper gaskets and it still leaks between pump and block. I checked the surfaces and they both looked good. I torqued to 50 inch pounds. Any suggestions ?

 

Oil pump cover will warp, next time you have it off find a flat like a glass table top, a sheet of 1000 grit sandpaper and lap all the mating surfaces true. James or Cometic gaskets with a very thin coat of Gasgacinch has always works for me.

 

If your pump is new aftermarket, You might have to file the left side of the pump body to make sure it mounts flat on the case. That happened to me when i put a new S&S on my 74
