Default Fuel Additive to Clean Valves, Etc.?

I would like to add some and ride it around a little before I put the 73 FLH away for the winter. I have read good and bad about Sea Foam. Any other recommendations. I may be having a valve problem and want to try this first before taking it apart next spring. Thanks.

Many people say Chevron Tectron is the best additive for cleaning the top end.

There is no magic potion that will clean up an upper end on an old carboned up bike, just a tip. Additives help keep it down a very little bit and that's only if you run it from day one.

Sea Foam will blow a lot of it off the pistons and combustion chamber.
Nothing we know of will peel it off the valves, shy of dissassembly and media blast.

Chevrons " Techron " (concentrated version!) does even a batter job then seafoam at cleaning carbon & or deposits from todays pump fuel off the backside of intake valves along with also removing some lvl of carbon off tops of pistons & combustion chambers in general along with cleaning injectors and or carb in the process too.

A good effective dose of techron (Concentrated version) to run for a good cleanup is 1.5 oz per gal of fuel thru 1 tank of fuel for a std cleanup maint 1x-2x yrly depending on miles driven.

But for a motor with suspected excess carbon buildup in intake valves & in comb chambers along with possible dirty injectors & or carb i'd run 2 tanks in a row back to back at the 1.5oz per gal dose rate.

I have had techrons concentrated version really come thru for me over the yrs cleaning injectors.carbs along with removing the jelly like blk sticky gunk that builds up on the backside of intake valves from todays pump fuel , from worn guides or worn v-seals or too much carryover from crankcase vent into intake system along with also removing x-amount of carbon from combustion chambers in general too.

The Techron taking care of that would take motors from running not that well idling kinda rough with lackluster throttle response and poor fuel mileage to running & idling smooth as a kitten regaining crisp/sharper throttle response while also improving/increasing fuel mileage 1.5-2mpg too 2.5-3mpg in a real dirty case thats not ever had (or not in a long time) a good cleanup with a strong robust solvent cleaner like chevron's Techron " " concentrated version " delivers.

BTW,i feel seafaom is a decent cleaner too but found it to be not quite as effective as the techron in " concentrated version " & use seafoam mostly as a maint cleaner only when a stronger cleanup with concentrated Techron has already been done prior on the bike or car i am working on.

Happy motoring!

Scott
