Anyone swap out the main shaft race for inner primary bearing with a"taller" one ?
Bought bearing, race, seal. I'm thinking it will be fine if it don't hit the clutch assembly.

I'm thinking it would be bad for chain alignment as well.
I simply put what belongs into it.

It is for that year, supposedly.... Don't forget it is a tapered shaft and will not seat there with the key if it hits that race.
I can take measurement with no race then slap it on and remeasure it...OORRRR...I think I will just measure the space up to the beginning of the tappering. If it's close, I won't even try it.

Does anybody know what the small grove is for on the main shaft spacer, it's clean here in pic but had black brittle residue in that area, maybe sealer or something ?
The main drive gear is the late style with a grove for an o-ring so this spacer does not need to be modified like in video.
But I'm curious about that grove.....

This side goes towards drive gear/bearing.....

Well that American made sleeve/race is definitely too wide, it needs to be 0.80 and it is one inch. Not sure why this is but I will be trimming it down to spec on the Bridgeport.
It must be for a spline shaft but it says it is for my year.
The joys of owning a mut but I like it...

Thanks Joe/John , it's a perfect "v-groove" and it was filled with a black burnt-like sealer or used up o-ring. There are no scratches near the groove at all, just the meeting surface. But nothing you can really feel. No shavings or filing s in there, really clean.
Just seams odd....
