Default 5 in 4 tranny ??anyone??

Hey all, hope everyone is good and ready to ride or already riding..be safe and keep the shinny side up.. QUICK QUESTION? is any one rebuilding 5 in 4 trannies??? I know a while back Dawg was I believe...any help would be appreciated.

I don't know of anyone rebuilding 5 in 4's but anymore but it seems to me that Baker was building new 5 speeds in original early style gearboxes w/kick or electric start. I'm not sure but I'd check there to start. If not, they could probably point you in the right direction.

when I talked to my indy about tranny rebuilds he said he sends all his to a local guy who does good work. there may be someone local to you as well. ask around...

Far as rebuilding one , they aren't difficult if you have the exploded parts diagrams. Look for an old school local indy maybe.

what is it doing that makes you think its in need of a rebuild

I built one out of parts and saved hundreds of dollrs, no kicker tho

5/4's have trap doors ccislander

you can get low mile twin cam take out gearsets, and use them , gotta use the main 5th and counter from the old 5/4 or get new ones unless running a splined shaft clutch ... plus if building a new main shaft if running a tapered clutch, other wise not, also if building one revtec cases stand up real well and are half the cost of S&S
