84 FLHS Pogo Buddy Possible???????
Looking for help with making my 1984 FLHS look retro- She is almost stock and I am taking off original sheet metal/paint for protection. So I am wanting to make it look like a 60's/70's no I am not putting on floor boards and all that, just an historic paint scheme and a buddy seat if that is possible. I believe I have everything except the Pogo and I hear that I want an 1 3/16" for my bike but there may be other issues.
I am hearing things about my down tube like: doesn't have a "bushing" that it is "open all the way"
what does this mean and what can I do about it?
Any aid will be greatly appreciated and of course any other issues I may encounter.
I am REALLY new at the forums thing so if I am doing something wrong LMK

They didn't put "pogo" buddy seats on in 84...they had changed to the "comfort flex" buddy seat that had it's own frame and springs...so you will have to do some extra to make it work. I would really make sure that is what you really want before you go though the trouble...the pogo buddy seat puts you sitting on top of the tank when your "buddy" is present.

Can someone include a pic of "fab a stop" on the bottom and does anyone have a part # to search for "bushing"
I live in the Nw burbs of Chgo if anyone has done this and is near by I would LOVE to get an "in person" view of it.
Once again any aid is always greatly appreciated.
I know about Comfort flex seats, not a fan, This is my solo ride have a heritage if I go out with the woman so I really more concerned with the look then the actual ride, but I hear that they are very "soft an the spine" which sounds good to an aging rider.

FYI as I recall the seat post will not fit in the later frames. I have an 84 FLH and a couple of Pans. Tomorrow I will go out and take a couple of measurements.
Think to make it work folks were using a side valve pogo assembly because it is smaller and will fit.
The tab on the bottom of the tube is merely a plate with a hole that allows the bottom stud end of the pogo assembly to go through it and is secured by a nut.

Wow I find that JP shock very interesting, especially since I want to keep my bike stock(or easily returned to) My only concern is the top of the shock looks to big to fit into the slot where the clip is, has anyone used one of these with an original seat??
I really don't want to do any welding or drilling to the frame, not because of cost but originality.
I am just trying to make simple cosmetic changes to make it look old while I am taking off original sheet metal/paint for protection. May seem odd to some but I think having the original tins in EC 10 years from now will really matter to its value.
