Default Factory Spring Perches and James Valve Seals

I bought a pack of James valve guide seals. The package says not for use with factory spring perches. They seem to be a bit taller than regular valve stem seals.

The seal won't fully seat if the perch is in place. I haven't found a spring perch that is lower. Maybe sand down the seals on my belt sander ?

Update: I decided to buy a set of stock type teflon seals. They cost me $5. I would like to have used the Viton seals though.

It didn't have any seals on it when I took it apart.

The engine has the external drain back mod too.

This makes me think that oil flooded rocker boxes are not an issue. However, my friends think guide seals are still necessary. Along with bronze guides.
