Default Drum Brake linings

Hey guys , any recommendations for new brake shoes , or linings , bike in question 1970 flh first year of amf . I have heard terms like sintered , high friction etc but cant find a manufacture that states what the linings are made of I do not want oem, im hoping there have been improvements in materials in 46 years ,but havnt found anyone who knows.

well if you fine any original OEM linings i will buy every one you find -

lets start with the drum brake in the front is used to hold the bike on a slight hill maybe

your stopping is done with the rear BUT having said that i have driven a couple of front drum harleys that did work rather well actually

the only lining that seems to do a kind of good job is made with the green lining and finding someone to bond it for you is also a thing of the past - rivet lining lasts only i
1/2 as long as bonded

Default linings

ok thanks could you give me a name of the green ones , neither front or back work Harley at all I need linings for both .

i only know them as the green linings and the Indians i work on and its different they use it i will try to find that out

Thanks bro .if possible I want to keep the stock look if I can get some stopping power before going to discs . this 1970 flh had 7 k miles on it.

I spoke to my friend about the efficiency of front shoe brakes on the big twins. He said tomany bad mouth the efficiency of front shoe brake, mainly because they don't know how to properly adjust them. He said when adjusted properly they have good stopping power.
HD 1970-1978 service manual, page 2-39, explains how to properly adjust FL's front shoe brakes.
