mainshaft - 1936 to 1964 same length

1965 Panhead - to 1966 / 1969 shovels - same length

1970 to 1984 < some in the very late units are the same but every thing before 1977 is the 1970 up mainshaft

the gear ratios are different FL - FLH - low first 3.0 ratio -- FX - series first gear 2.44
ratio < yes it works - also the front trans sprocket could be a 22 tooth not a 23 the FX series has - all things to cheac out as well as the speedo ratio can and is different in different machines trans driven cable - your might have a front wheel speedo

Thank you for info. In process of rebiulding original. Third gear was making dull loud noise once engaged , so far replaced mainshaft, main clutch, main third, main drve gear. All had wear marks. Do you guys think that was noise? I know kinda lame question but any help appreciated.
