Default 1970 flh wheel install

I took my wheels off for the first time and took had them chrome powdercoated and had new tires installed. Both took longer than expected. I had to take the wheel bearings to the tire guy so he could balance the wheels.. I gave him everything separated front and rear.. spacers etc and everything came back tossed in one box. I have a 1970 shop manual and I have yet to find a clear picture of how the bearings etc go for installation. Thank you in advance for anyones help.

you cant fix stupid

the bearings will be fine with the races mis matched as you can buy them not as a set IF and i said IF you buy USA stuff ( timkin ) wheel bearings so if you have timkins in it now and they when you clean them up are not damaged in any way use them

they need to be totally clean and dry for the end plays to come out correct and you may need to have a set of shims - OR take them to an indy and have him grease them and set the end plays for you - if you cheap out in this location at 70MPH and the front wheel comes to a complete stop, with out using the brake you will when know Y this is not for a homeowner to do

1970 models used sealed bearings, two in the front and 3 in the rear.

The HD shop manual and the Climers manual confuse me. I have a 1970 FLH the manual says the front and rear hubs are interchangable. I noticed when I took the front wheel apart their were on two bearings (weird I thought because the book shows three). So what your say makes sense becasue the wheel spacer on the front right is about 3.25" long and it pushes the second bearing out of the right side of the drum.

So your saying 2 bearings in the front and three in the rear right?

The third bearing in the rear usually stays in the brake drum when you pull off the wheel. The wheel itself only has two. If you buy after-market bearing check them regularly, they have a tendency to grind themselves to death in a fairly short time.
