Inside the Fender??
Ok Still restoring this 77 FLH and almost finished. The bolts that go through the Sissy bar/saddle bags bracket and the struts screw into something on the inside of the fender on 3 or them. The 4th had a longer bolt with a nut, but i can feel the whatever it is that the rest of them are tightening into. The issue is it to long and its rubbing the rear tire. Does anyone know what the bolts are going into and if it can be replaced?
I have tried to look up parts number to see if i can find a diagram or something but this year and older is not that easy.

OEM fenders have threaded nuts welded to the inside of the fenders on the 5/16" bolts, if they are too long you have 2 choices, washers on under the head of the bolt to shorten the exposed thread inside the fenders or #2 Mr. Hacksaw and a good file and trim the bolts to the right size.
Insert's inside the fender are spot welded and non removable.
