Primary chain noise

After recently having some work done on my Shovel, including the primary chain being tightened, I've noticed a lot more noise coming from the primary than before. It is loud enough to be disconcerting to me, but I don't have too much of a frame of reference as far as what it should sound like.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Max

Run your concern past the tech who adjusted the chain.

Too loose you get a slapping noise (chain hitting the top of the primary ) A winning noise the chain too tight (not good ) I adjust for 3/4 in play cold at the top of the chain in the middle

Thanks!

For the replies.

Yes, I've spoken to the Indy that did the work and he basically said that I may be in need of a new primary chain in the near future. This is the first time that he has worked on this bike and he comes highly recommended, but just wanted to see if there may be any 2nd opinion thoughts out there.

Thankfully, it isn't the slapping noise or a whining noise. Just a clearly audible, almost loud, chain noise..

check the compensator, the nut may be loose, or the spring worn.

Can you record the noise and post the wave file?

getting enough oil on it?

I had a slight chain sounding noise on mine for a while my mech thought it was the primary chain vibration and adjusted it. The other day the motor blew haven't tore it down yet to see what came apart.
