Pick of the day, 1984 Harley Davidson FXE-80 Superglide Shovelhead. Non AMF (sorry). It was about 600 of those made in 1984 and from what I researched there are only around 50 left in such original condition.....I have the OEM seat, exhaust and mid controls. Rare find!!

Odd that that '75 seems to still have Kayaba forks!
I don't normally see this.

Kayaba where standard from 73 to 77. The Showa's showed up in 76 so that you had a couple of years where you could have a bike with either the Kayaba or Showa. My 75 still had the kayaba's.

No...Showa was much before that...'73 and some early '74 is the Kayaba time frame. Certainly '75 on is showa...Or!! Did the Shovels keep Kayabas when Sportsters went Showa???

Not according to the parts manual. Shovels had Kayaba through 77 but the Showa's were on 76 models as welll. My 75 FXE had Kayaba my 76 FXE had Showa. The service manual made a point of fork identification. I imagine the factory was using up the supply of Kayaba forks while they made the switch to Showa.

I went and looked in my '75 manual, and what you say is there Claims Kayaba till '77...yet my 1975 Sportster parts manual shows Showa from '75 on.
First I ever dealt with this...But, Apparently the Shovel Kept the Kayaba Longer than the Sportster. Which is My experience, Having never seen a Sportster after Late '74 with a Showa.
We are Talking Shovelheads here...And I can only say that by '77 the dual disk models were obviously all Showa...
'74 - '77?? I'll have to look more carefully!!!
