Question Gentlemen....I need your help.

Hi Guys!

My ex just got custody of my '62 Panhead. So I sold his 67 Cougar and bought myself an '82 Shovel. And with the leftover money, I want to set it up. It runs great...all it needs is some cosmetics.

I need some help.

Here is what it looks like now......Pix of your shovels....-shovel-1-.jpg

And this is closer to what I want it to look like......Pix of your shovels....-shovel-1.jpg

What model do I call it when ordering parts. Is this an FLH? I feel like such the dumb girl right now.

Any input would be very helpful. Well, positive input anyway. LOL!

Thanks,

Jane

sft2dtch...the full 17 digit vehicle identification number is stamped on the steering head. An abbreviated vin will be located on the engine, either on the right case below the front tappet block or on the left case below the rear cylinder (not sure what year MoCo switched over on locating the engine VIN number).

At any rate herez some help...sample vin abbreviated vin as it appears on the engine

1 HD 1 AA K (or L) 1* ** E Y 010000

AA = model designation

K or L = engine type

1* = may be 1,2 or 3 (factory use)

** Varies, can be 0 through 9 or X

E = model year

010000 = sequential production number

Sample abbreviated VIN as it appears on the engine - AAKE 010000

Model designations

AA = FLH-80
AB = FLHP-80 Police - chain
AC = FLH-80 Shrine - chain
AH = FLHP-80 Police - belt
AK = FLHS-80
AL = FLH-80 Shrine - belt
BA = FXE-80
BE = FXWG-80
BF = FXSB-80
BD = FXB
BH = FXST
BG = FXDG

Model Year

B = 1981
C = 1982
D = 1983
E = 1984

Talking Thank you!

Panz....that's just what I needed. Thank you so much.

It's vin is BEKCo14998 So I have a ***** G. it seems.

And, that picture does it justice. Live and in person, it's pretty bad. I have to raise it up a few inches. It is so low that I almost caught the kick stand in a gutter yesterday. And when I am pulling into the garage it scrapes. And I just want it to be a bit "prettier".

I'll be back with new pixs through the transformation.

See ya,

Jane

Default Hey Everyone. Great to be back on a shovhd again.

After 5 years or so in the Evo forum, I finally found my dream shovhd. Should be fun putting it back to stock. The year is 1983, can anyone guess the model?
