I just put one (60 lb) on my Fatboy (96ci) and it runs at 44 lb.

60 lb is ok. You'll get about 30psi cold, and after warm-up the pressure will drop to almost 0 at idle and about 20 at highway speeds.

Default gauge

NO WAY, You need a 100 psi Gauge, That bike will pin a 100 psi at start and run between 10 and 15 on a cool day and read pretty much zip at an idle on a hot day. But trust me, It will pin a 100 psi gauge at start.

I'm not going to argue the point, but you're wrong KT. Of the MANY shovels I've owned, I've never had one go over 30 +/- cold, even with a S&S pump.

Is there anyone out there besides KT with a hundred pounds of pressure at start-up? I might be wrong. I don't even get 100 on my 96" Twin Cam and EVO drag bike. Just went and checked.

If you're running 50 in the winter and 70 in the summer in your shovel, This will happen. I've had mutiple bikes with gauges. And they all do it.
Why do you think they sell the hundred psi?

Back in the 70's, I built a '66 shovel and ran 60 wt. in it year-round (I live in So. Cal). Oil pressure would go up to 80 pounds when cold and at high idle.
If I would rev it up from there the oil pressure just kept on climbing. As it warmed up, the pressure would come down so I waited until I could drive it slowly without pegging the gauge. Once it warmed up, it would run about 25-30 pounds cruising around and 5-8 pounds at idle.

So if your running a 60lb gauge and your pressure goes higher than 60 does it hurt the gauge?

never used the 60psi, So I don't know if it'll get damaged, But i guess it could at least lose calibration.
