I have a leak coming from my top cover on the transmission.I want to replace the top cover gasket. one garage told me to pull tranny to fix, 5 hours at 80 buck and hour nother mechanic said just pull cover, no need to take off oil bottle, does anyone here know how to replace top cover gasket on transmission for 1983 FXR 5 speed Rubber Mount?

I would not pay $400 Even if you have to get the oil tank out of your way It's a gravy job Just make sure the oil isn't coming out of the breather hose !
