Default Carb Issues

I have a 1975 XLCH Sportster. Just recently got it running. Cleaned tank and coated and then rebuilt carb. Started up fine and ran. Now I am having some cold start problems and when I get it running it seems to run rich and then dies from 5 to 10 seconds. I can't seem to figure out my problem.. Any suggestions?

What kind of carb are you running on it?

It sounds like either the float is hung or it's not set at the proper height. What is your air/fuel screw set at? What did you set your float level at?

Pull the plugs - what do they look like ? Have you checked for a vacum leak ?
