clutch hub and compensating sprocket nut sizes
Hi all,
I have hit a snag on my 78 FLH. I don't have the right size wrench sockets to undo the clutch hub nut and the compensating sprocket nut.
Does anyone know what size these are so I can buy the right size wrench sockets? I think the compensating sprocket nut is 35mm, but the clutch hub seems smaller...
Anyone?
Cheers

Got the clutch hub nutoff with 1 1/8 and it wasn't that tight, just soem arm pressure got it off. Bent two bars on teh compensating sprocket - did not want to come off, in te end let it be and took teh whole case off - belt slipped off behind it.
Sprocket nut was loose, undid it by hand!

a loose sprocket, can/will allow the sprocket spacer to have a slight gap..letting tranny fluid leak out..

A bit!! ... my whole primary was full of it, and the gearbox was empty! That was the whole reason for taking the lot apart.
The sprocket was tight against the oil seal, but as soon as I unclipped the retaining spacer (the one with little lips that bend alongside the nut to keep it in place) I could undo the nut by hand.
However, I have found the main gearbox bearing has gone as there was play in the shaft and I am told that will cause leaks.
So I have whipped the tranny out and I will get a new bearing, throwout bearing (whilst I am at it) and oil seal put in, and then I'll get a new sprocket nut properly screwed on and tightened.
Cheers
