1982 FLT shovelhead
I have replaced the starter, starter solinoid, battery, and both battery wires. The bike will not turn over fast enough to start, unless I jump it with my truck. It has been about 45 degrees outside when I try to start it, so I don't think its the cold weather. Any suggestions? Stater?

Isn't the 82 FLT a rubber mounted engine?
If it is, you may have a bad ground connection between the cases and the frame.
I would try to rig up a heavy ground wire from the starter motor mount to the frame to see if that helps. Maybe you could clip one of your battery jumper cables at those points to test your ground connection.

That's the thing, someone who had the bike before me relocated the ground, away from the starter mount bolt because they stripped out the threads in the bolt hole. The ground is hooked up, just under the seat, and I wire brushed it pretty good. The seat pan there is only about 1/4 inch thick. Maybe it is not a big enough chunk of metal for the ground?, but it is part of the frame. Also that bike is a rubber mount. I took the bike to the shop this afternoon, wish I would have relocated it. The shop is going to check the charging system, he mentioned the stator, but I don't think that is the problem because it charges up just fine, and the bike turns over really good after it is warmed up. Thanks for the advice!!
