Harley did some shady **** for those few years , vin may same it's an 80" but when it comes down you may find 74" parts . I've run into a lot of that over the years , been a few owners wanting to fight after finding their 80" wasn't . It should be an 80 but you'll only for sure know if it's opened , good luck man .
Wasn't there a difference in the fin counts on the jugs? Would that help I.D. it? Been a long time since I owned a shovel, but I seem to remember this being a way to do a quick check on the motor.

In 1980 they still were offered in FLH's also, in fact they made 1,111 of them that year
The FXB's were the "Sturgis" Model, so they kept that as a 80 only

Thank you for your knowledge. Been a while since I owned a shovel. But thinking about restoring one. I will need help. Got a 77 that has been in cold storage since 99 and its gonna cost me a phuckin fortune. Was the old man's last bike, tho. Gotta do the right thing.
