1980 FLT chain enclosure - yay or nay?
I know there have been a few general threads on this topic, including one fairly recently. I am looking for some input on the wisdom (or not) or running without the enclosure. The reason is simple: I have tubeless spoke rims front & back that I am looking to put on the bike. If I do that, I cannot run the enclosure (I could be wrong, but I don't think so). I have replaced the front end with a mid 90's RK so I have no fairing. I have rewired the bike (through the frame). I have moved the speedo to the tank. I have a real retro-look going with the bike - and the stock mags would, I think, destroy that look.
I have a new X-Ring chain. I have replaced the drive sprocket from the transmission, and I will replace the sprocket on whatever wheel on put on.
I like the idea of running the enclosure dry (what with the x-ring chain and all), just to keep the elements off, but I also really want the tubeless spokes. I am torn...
Suggestions, input is welcome.
