Cool shovelhead engine in sporster frame

Im getting ready to chop a 1980 sportster frame. I want to put a shovelhead engine in it, but im not sure if thats possible or a smart idea. I cant find any info on the internet about this. Im sure im not the first person to want to do something like this. It would look cool. If its possible i will getter done. Does anybody have any comments or advice on this? PS: what other engines might fit?
PPS:metal fabrication not a problem.

I'm thinkin' after you went through all the work of installing any big twin engine and trans in a sportster frame, you wind up pretty much with an FX.
Now you could put a shovelhead top end on an ironhead sportster engine but it would require a lot of welding to build up the case for it, as I recall.

IMO it would be a waste of time...Then again, if you have a title for the frame and you have the facility and time go for it. You could put a jet engine in it if you want. Has anyone done it? I really dought it. Cut the headstock with the vin off and go to town...Post some progress ****...FWIW

Anything is possible with enough money but I do not recommend it.

Going to be a LOT of cutting and adding on to make it fit . Remember a sporty is an all in one unit and hell of a lot smaller & shorter than a shovel . Then add the tranny and all the flying monkies and flaming hoops to make the wheel line up the drivetrain .............. .Unless you've got decent skills , shop tools including a mill and just a serious bug about making it work you in for a real job man , a LOTTA fab work and welding .

By the time your done bro your going to have a huge time investment in something that will not make you happy , kind of been down this road in general with Limeys years ago never looked or handled right . You'll end up with what amounts the sporty neck and everything from there back will be a shovel frame . Get a Paughco swingarm frame have done with it their cheap .
