Default 81 FLT Classic

I bought this bike new and still have it. The trans is leaking but over all, the bike is in nice condition.

Looks to be in nice shape for its age. How many miles you put on her?

FLTs are definitely a love it or leave mentality. I am partial to the FLHT withe the batwing fairing but each decides what is best.

MoCo definitely was thinking future tense with the 5 speed rubber mount frame and enclosed rear chain drive.

I only put 15,000 miles on it before life/kids got in the way. Four years ago, I had the bike cleaned up, chromed up, new card, etc. I put a few hundred miles on it and the trans started leaking. I bought a new bike (Victory Kingpin) and have put a pile of miles on it. I still need to get the FLT up on the lift to see what is going on with the trans.

I am looking to get a new HD and can't decide between a Road King, RG Custom or an Electra Glide.....

Probably leaking around the main seal.

Good that you are back on bikes; good that you understood your priorities in life as well.

I just purchased it's mate. I'm thinking that I will get the 81 painted to match the 12.

The trans main seal replacement isn't rocket science. I can be replaced easily while on the bike. Take your time and be sure to replace the spacer with a new one.
