Default Looking for information for sidecar

My father and I are restoring a 1974 AMF FLH 1200. We're almost finished with the bike, but we also have an original AMF badged sidecar to use with the bike. We're looking for some information on this sidecar. The guy we purchased it from thought it may be from 1973, but we can't find any information on HD sidecars from the early/mid 70's. Would any of you be have some information to help enlighten us on this rare piece?

FYI...the fiberglass side started in 68 (replaced steel-body one) and the design ran through 84 models. Know zip about later models so I cannot comment on design. But it was just last year" that HD quit producing sidecars in favor of the Tri-Glide so calling it a "rare" piece might be a bit overstated.

There is a frame number on the sidecar frame that will tell you exactly what year it was made.

As I recall there is a separate manual for setting up sidecars that MoCo produced. Seen a few on the flea.

Couple of sites worth checking...

If you get a chance post some pics...

Thanks for the information. Calling it rare probably is over zealeous. I guessl I just thought it was because it had factory AMF badging all over it. I don't know how many were made under that badge. As far as design, it looks a lot like the CLE Classic style that I keep seeing from '79. Has the same chrome trim all the way around and the mounting looks almost identical.

Thank you on the tip about the serial number on the frame. I'll inform my dad and that'll get a good starting point. We haven't really touched the sidecar at all because we've been trying to get the bike done for the local Sturgis on the River event later this summer.
