Default 1979 OEM Hinged Rear Fender

Recently I was thinking of buying a 1979 FLH and noticed it had a hinged rear fender. Can anyone tell me if a hinged fender was produce on a stock original 1979 FLH. The seller claimed this bike was all original and from my knowledge I believe everything he said was correct. However, I had my doubts on the hinged fender. Can someone help me with this?

That's a tough one. My 73 on 75 had hinges. I thought that late 78 changed, but then again, there were a lot of parts that were left over that showed up till 84.

One of the things that should still be on these bikes. Makes doing rear tire work a snap.

Thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. I have a 82FLH and a 83FLH and I'm interested in learning more about the FLH's of this era. The only other question I have right now is the color options. This one is Red and White and I can't seem to find another like it. The hard bags and fenders appear as though they are painted from the factory with the paint scheme that is one them. The two-tone paint on the tanks match the fenders but I have never seen that type of paint scheme on the tanks. It appears as though it could be original with white on the top half and red on the bottom half. Any comments?
