Default 1 1/8 " rear pulley

looking to gain a little rear tire (side of) to drive belt clearance. So I've been told it works to use a 1 1/8 drive pulley, belt and correct spacer. My concern was the larger 1 1/2 trans pulley with the 1 1/8 belt. Will the belt walk much or stay put?

I have been told that all transmission pulleys are for 1.5 belts. use a narrow belt with a narrower rear pulley. The belt is kept strait by the rear pulley. I think you need a pulley for a 04-06 ,07 HD went to a 66 tooth rear.

Sorry I'm late in on this , the rear is what tracks the belt not the tranny sprocket . My question is what are trying to achieve ? I'm running a 1-1/2" rear belt with a 150 series tire with plenty of clearance .

for some reason, I only have 1/16 clearance with a MAU80 (140) tire and 1 1/2 belt. It seems to line up ok with tranny. not sure it's a 1981 drive line

When I set up a belt system or bigger tire I do an alignment check but it involves pulling the rear fender . I run a string line down the backbone of the frame between the tanks on the centerline of the frame then back off the rear of the fender rails . It can show you all kinda interesting things like whether the rails are true & parallel and you'd be real surprised how often they are tweaked and how badly , this makes a difference in a lot of alignment issues and vibration . It also gives you the low on is the tire is centered or not hence the clearance issues and you'll see a tracking problem plain as day . I'm betting your tire is offset a bit or misaligned . It's winter and you've got some time on your hands , play a bit it and see .
