Default Keihin carb choke linkage

So I have this 78 shovel and it is fix one find one lately. Today I found the choke linkage on my carb busted so the lever doesnt close the choke. Besides scrap the keihin and get a S&S does anyone have any suggestions? One guy told me to just wire the choke open. The bike is a kick only so if everything was perfect I would still work up a sweat getting the thing started.

The outboard cam that opporates the choke butterfly. Half of the black plastic cam broke off. The high idle cam is still intact.
