Default One Of The Last FXWG Shovelheads

I have an 84 FXWG Shovelhead Serial number 1HD1BEK2XEY065911 . It has the 4 stars on the front of the right engine case that denotes that it is a last run bike. The numbers match and the silver frame tag says manufacture date 4/84. I have read that the last shovel built was an FLH in 5/84 which puts my FXWG right at the very end of the shovelheads. I've also read that the serial numbers are senquential through all Harley models not by model. I guess what I'm trying to find out is how close to the last FXWG my bike falls. I tried to call Harley Customer Care all day today and couldn't get through their automated system and I couldn't find a email contact number for them. When I was at the Harley Museum this summer they told me to contact different forums someone would have the information I'm looking for

4 stars doesn't mean it's a last run shovelhead...84 EVOs had them too

From what I've read the 4 stars denote that it is an EVO case and crank and they only used them on shovels built Jan - May 1984. I've read so much about the last year shovels it's getting really hard to sort things out, so what I've resorted to is if I find 2 or more sourses that state the same thing/ without any contradictions then it could posibily be fact until I find out otherwise. You can't get an answer from the MoCo, I don't think there is anyone left from the bowling ball years

exfed-If you have one of the last shovels then i have one of the first softails. You are assembled 4/84, #065911, My softail #065979 assembled 5/1/84 has a star before and a star after on my motor. The H.D.# 414-343-4056. They could not tell me (Because they dont know) when the shovels stopped and the evos began. We are both right there though. I believe production kept rolling, but the records were not kept. They did inform me that my drivetrain(motor) was assembled on January 1st, 1984. Yes,I found it strange that the plant in york,pa. was running a line on new years day ! You can look up...tabperformance.com/harley-davidson-vin number explained. Coincidentally the reason i called milwaukee was to try and find out how early my softail production was. Crazy right 1948-1984 and 1984-1999 a shared 50 years and we're caught right in dead center.

There were '1984' model year softails at dealerships in The summer of 1983. If yours was built in May 84, it probably already has the mid year updates, like the wet disc spring clutch... It's not like they just stopped building Shovelhead bikes, they had both in 84.
