Default 1981 Heritage- want one- stupid, I know

I started on Shovels- taught as a kid to ride on sidecar combinations and servicars...Now I got an Evo, got a Pan, have a Twin Cam.

to my eye the Shovel FLH can be a really nice look- my Brother in Law had a '84 that was perfectly proportioned, length/ height etc.

So now I have a hankering.. like lots of old stuff many of the Shovels have been hammered and buggered.

I am thinking that maybe a good shot would be the 1981 Heritage...most of those will have been kept pretty good condition.

I know the AMF's have a bad rep, but I do have a few pal's with AMF era bikes that are still running strong.

Comments, thoughts, wisdom appreciated

Buggered AMFs were in the early 70's....stuff ironed out by late 70's to 80.

Besides....by now, anything that was shot is likely replaced.

Picked up my '83 FLHS this past spring for 5500. Bones are good...engine good, looks good from a distance but as you get up close she's a little tired looking. But I'll get her where I want in a year or two...and I'm having a great time riding her in the meant time, and slowly working on her.

I tell ya...nothing beats the cadence (sound) of a Shovel at cruising speed. Puts a smile on my face. And when I'm riding with another bud or two that also have Shovels...man, we make some music on the roads!

Generally if an AMF era bike has survived this long the quality is there. Don't know what a '81 Heritage looks like , could you post a pic?
