starter for high compression
hey, just bought this bike . 1979 80 cubic in . Been redone with high compression pistons. heads ported and flowed. Turns over real hard...I'm thinking I need a high torque starter. Runs great after you get it started. I'd like to know what that I can get on a low budget but still do the job....thanks john

starter
Had my 81 Shovel bored/stroked to 102", stock starter barely turn it so I wired a toggle switch to kill power to the coil so it wouldn't fire...toggle off, ignition on,hit the starter until the engine gets spinning good then flip on the toggle putting power on the coil...bike fires up.I know it sucks but money was tight and this worked until I got a spyke starter....hope this helps.

I have used the all ***** starter with up to 10:1 and leinweber cams with no issues --
what cam do you have?? and 80" with high compression I use the sifton #116 it blows of cranking compression so the engine spins easy --
Shotgun (116) Cam combines the best features of the 102 and 103 cam. For electric start only, do not use with hydraulic tappets.
Intake: 32/50 262 0.400 Exhaust: 52/28 260 0.400 Overlap: 56
