I was bound and determined to put both a 200 tire and a belt drive on this bike...it would have been easy to put one or the other, but I am hardheaded. My original plan was to run the standard 32 tooth pulley up front and a 70 tooth in the rear. That resulted in a tooth count belt that nobody sells. I wanted to run an "off the shelf" belt that would be easy to get, in case I ever had a problem. I started playing with different pulleys...and wound up with a 66 rear and a 30 front...which winds up almost the same ratio as the 32/70...actually a tad lower...works for me. The 66 tooth softail pulley had 1/2 inch offset ...which would never work, so I took it to work and milled it to 1/8 inch. That gave me 3/16" clearance to the tire and 1/2" to the frame with the wheel centered in the frame. Now a standard softail 20mm belt works and I am right in the middle of the adjustment slots...perfect.

OK dropped the motor in today...I am using a 93 up touring trans with the oil tank on the bottom...the only problem with this is, the oil return on the trans oil tank and the the breather on the shovel are in the exact same place...something about two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. The solution is very simple...I am using a heavy-duty starter that is longer than the stock unit...so I have to run a spacer on the oil fill to make room for the starter...so I drilled and tapped the spacer for a hose nipple, and the oil is returning in the oil fill ...and as an added bonus it is further away from the oil pick-up...so there is less chance of hot oil going out the pick-up...win win.

Looks great.

That's a helpful post. My question in the EVO section about the trans swap for an oil pan is actually for my current build. I'm making a road King with a shovel. 1990 Electra glide that I'm putting a delkron cased shovel motor in. Kind of coping you, but nothing to your level. Has late model bags, tins, etc. anyways, thanks for this. I'm going to get a 93-98 trans and will have to adjust for this same issue

Thanks
Mike

When using a bunch of parts from different years, and then throwing aftermarket stuff in to boot... you will find that you wind up having to modify every little part to get things to work. I was mocking up my new true duals and low and behold...the bracket that mounts the right pipe to the trans, no longer fits...the 6 speed is wider...so I had to cut it down and re-weld it ...gave me a chance to try out my "chrome" powder coat.
