Electronic ignition 76 shovelhead

Putting an electronic ignition on my Shovel was one of the best things I ever did for it. I ran a single fire Crane HI-4 for about 15 years until the module finally gave out. After that happened, I replaced the Crane unit with a Daytona Twin Tec because I had heard good things about it and many people had said that the Crane was no longer as good as it once was. I'm still running the old Crane coil with the Daytona module. Very happy with the Daytona so far. You will need to get a different coil than what you currently have if you go to a single fire ignition. I have no experience with the Dyna ignitions, but they seem to be highly regarded. One thing to be aware of is that I believe the Dyna's require that you keep your mechanical advance unit (the same one that is now behind your points plate). Many of the other brands use a trigger rotor cup in place of the mechanical advance. I had issues with my mechanical unit and that was one of the reasons I went with an ignition that used a rotor cup when I switched from points.

most electronic ignitions use a 3 ohm coil, not the 5 ohm coil that you have with points. one brand, maybe dyna, is the exception. you'll have to check that one out. many people, including me, like the ultima single fire - it's a very cost effective kit that includes a proper dual coil, wires etc.

I know this sounds stupid but has anybody had trouble removing the bottom bolt for a single fire ignition coil on a Shovelhead. I cannot get the Allen wrench in there, the cylinder is in the way I don't know how they put it these allen head bolts in with removing the head! If it had a standard head on it I could probably get a socket it in there with an extension, but with the Allen's there's just no room only thing I can think of is to cut the bolts off and replace them with hex head bolts. does anybody have any ideas other than the one I just mentioned or has anybody run into this problem thanks in advance
