Default Belt drive primary compensating sprocket - got one?

Do any of you aftermarket primary belt drive owners run a crankshaft compensating sprocket? I have a 1 1/2” belt set-up with a solid sprocket and was wondering if the factory fit option would fit, or was it even worth considering. Or indeed, if an aftermarket option is available – if there is, I can’t find it.
(I’ve scanned my manual and you can see it listed as part #’s 22,23,25,26)
Would be interested to hear of your experiences – good, bad or just ’meh’.
Thanks!

John

I have never seen one, I can't understand why you would want the aggravation?

I would think belt flex would soften the blows to the drivetrain that chain drive uses compensator to accomplish, so not needed. Joe

Well... that's the thing - right now I don't know if having one would be an aggravation. The factory thought that it was a good idea - they wouldn't have fitted it unless there was an appreciable benefit, so I'm interested to hear feedback from riders that have run one. Maybe it makes the drivetrain reeeeaaal smooth and a belt will last a million miles - or maybe it's a pain in the *** with no benefits. (The fact that it is not commonly available as an aftermarket part suggests the latter.)

I'm all ears.

This guy put a belt drive on his dyna and felt more vibrations w/o compensator. After a while he didn't feel it so much, but wasn't sure if things smoothed out or he got used to it.

Thanks for posting that Joe - having read the thread however, his replacement belt sprocket doesn't have the compensator, so... while interesting in general terms, it doesn't tell me what I need to know.

Cheers

they never worked correctly - that is the reason they are gone - if it did they would have kept it -

the rubber blocks back in the day did not have the stay in shape ability like the jap bikes with that set up today has --

the belts take lots of vibes out - not all - but its all in the over balance the engine has by design, it is set at 60 percent and as such spots in the rpm range are in balance than not then in again < you cant re design the single pin rod set up its been tryed many times by many people, for different reasons over the 100 years harley is making single pin V Twin motors

I personally can't tell any difference in a chain with a compensating sprocket and a belt without one going down the road...no difference in vibration...taking off from a stop I can feel the difference, but feathering the clutch takes care of that.

Thanks for your responses, I appreciate it; based on this and other feedback I won't be exploring this option any further - saved me some time and money - excellent!

Cheers
