I just bought superglide tank mounting pieces from JP cycle and her eis the result....there is no way the tank will lay down with that rubber horseshoe.

I give up ..whats the trick....my plan is to just custom mount the damn thing

 

I can't really tell from the picture but it should be over the speedometer cable hole in the frame. The rear tank mounts attach to the rear mounts on either side.

 

Yes, it is over the speedo cable hole...lowest point on the fatbob mount....no way this will work. Not even close....it is a JP Taiwan part so who knows....I do not have a Harley original to go by....

 

Is that pic with the front tabs under the mounting bolt?
I removed an FX tank many years ago. I'll look around, perhaps I can find the rubber block.

You are probably aware, the rear mount uses a rubber strap or spring that attaches to one tab and under the frame tube, then attaches to the other tab.

 

Yes, it is mounted with the front tabs mounted around the grommets/bushings.
