Default Questions for electronic ignition install

Am I supposed to keep the stock magnetic pick up in the motor or pull it out? The stock magnet doesn't seem to work with the ultima 53-644 ignition that I have.

If I take it out, how does it work with no magnets? Should I have ordered a new pickup?

Thanks for looking!

This Ultima Ignition requires the gold colored timing rotor used on 1983 and later EVO motors (HD part no. 32402-83).
The earlier silver colored cup will not work properly. Bikes originally equipped with points (except distributors) or early
electronic ignition will accept the later model cup without modification.

Thanks Tom...knew I was missing something. That's what happens when you buy from eBay.

Do you happen to have the part number or length for the new bolt that holds the 83 rotor in?

I do not have a parts manual for an 83.

Thanks again!

On my 80 FXE it is either part # 17532 or 17504 from Mid-USA. I just installed a Twintec single/dual fire ignition and somehow the magnet and the bolt holding it all in were misplaced.
