I'm looking at a 1980 FXW that looks real nice with about 260 mi since rebuild. The problem is it has a knock sound in the motor since the owner let a friend drive it. It sup-post to need a battery to get it started but he's afraid to hurt the motor more. I can' t get a hold of the owner to talk just his friend that's selling it for him. The prob, is its a 6hr drive to see it! I can't get any info on the knock like coming from where. when, how loud etc. The price is real low less than $3500. Think it's worth it or too many red flags! Rich.

 

if you have the ability to over haul the lower unit than go for it other wise forget about it
