Update: Leaky rear chain case on FLT

Maybe this helps someone else out. I ran into a cool dude at O'Reilly that restores old Harleys. He gave me the following advice. Methods used aren't perfect, but they worked!
I had 2 pinholes worn in the rubber chain boot. At his advice I used liquid electrical tape to repair the holes in the rubber. Tada, perfect match and almost unnoticeable. It has held up well so far.
Then I cleaned off all of the funky silicone the indy shop put on my metal chaincase to "fix" the terrible leaking. As we all know, didn't work. This time I used a smaller amount of Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker - following the instructions on package. Works like a charm.
Finally, following the advice in Donny's Unauthorized Technical Guide, I used 60 wt engine oil. I've considered another person's advice of using white lithium grease, but I'm passing on it for now. This issue will come up next time someone takes it all apart to replace the rear tire again, and I can try it out then.
Hope this helps another person out with ideas for a leaky rear chain case on an FLT in which the lubricant is self contained.
