Default CVO muffler vs stock slip ons

I have a 2014 Ultra and have a chance to pick up a set of CVO takeoffs. My question other than looks, is there a advantage to run the CVO mufflers? I am looking for a exhaust that flows better but dont want loud. Thanks for any suggestions. Bob

I think they are a bit louder, but just a bit. With catless headers and a dyno tune, they are not too loud or overly loud on my 110 motor.

If you still have the cat, they will be mild indeed, but are very easy to modify with fullsac cores at 1.75, 2.0 or larger.

And they do look really good.

My wife is a musician and a music teacher. She does not want loud... I have CVO take offs on a stock head pipe with CAT. I promise you it is not loud. The tone is very nice but very quiet.

Default CVO mufflers

Great these sound like what I am looking for. I want to add a Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C, CVO mufflers and do a stage 1 tune. I just came from a Goldwing so am trying to increase performance without alot of noise. Bob

Thumbs up

I liked the noticeable difference in level and the 12 CVO's on my 14 sound a bit deeper than stock. I am very happy and I am no longer into loud just cruise
I never liked the tapered look, the big 4" looks much better
Flow better than stock? My dealer did a free dyno day last Sat. and they are close to what Fuel Moto had for the 15 RG.
Mine 74 HP and 91 TQ vs. their 77 and 92 but that's 2 different bikes 2 different locations

BTW, the 12 inner pipe is farther inside the tip than the 13 and up
May have an effect on the depth of sound, but it's been a while since I last heard a newer CVO

I removed the STOCK tapper mufflers of my 14TK and put on CVO with 2in FULL SAC baffles didn't notice much difference so I pulled the packing off the baffles and got a nice DEEP tone and not very loud. Just what I was looking for

Compared to a Goldwing, even a stock Harley is really loud.

I know this is an older thread, I just picked up a pair myself. Has anyone taken those shields off them, not sure what the purpose of that is. I'm cutting out the cat over the snow season here. Hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but it's close to the question, "CVO". Will report back on loudness once on. They do look better than stock.

Another benefit of the CVO vs Stock mufflers is that if you ever want to have a little more performance and deeper tone, you can pull the end caps, grind out the 2 welds and pull the baffles out. you can't do that very easy with stock muffler.
