Default 2017 Engine Oil Light(Update)

The oil light came on today while pulling into the dealers parking lot. The info button said check oil now. I did and it was ok on dipstick? Well had to leave bike and get a ride home. Bike has little over 600 miles on it completely stock. Needless to say not happy about this.

Update. They got authorization today to open cam chest and see what's up with oil pump and inspect cam plate. Will get another phone call Thurs. Service rep said their making it a priority to get me back on the road soon as they can. So just staying calm and hope to be riding soon. Funny side note. When I pulled in to their lot that's when light first came on. I looked at the miles on the Speedo and it was 666 mi.WTF? First thing went through my mind was it's a devil bike. Ha

Update 2 : Well got the call Fri. New engine coming next week. It was the oil pump. It seems the oil pressure relief valve is now in the pump and it wasn't seating properly. They were worried about metal shavings and decided to swap in a new motor. Man I hate idea of being the first candidate for a M8 engine swap. It's not like they have a lot of practice yet right. Going in tomorrow to pick up a free loaner, not sure what's being offered hope it's another FLHTK Limited right? Trying not to stress about it ever being right again or finding the paint scratched on such a new bike under 700mi.

( Update 3) 10-6-16

Got her back today rode about 60 miles. Tomorrow all day ride if I can. So far all is great, nothing leaking, runs strong. Need to see on a long ride tomorrow to feel real confident in it again. I asked for free 1000mi checkup and service for my 18 day ordeal and they said for sure yes. That helps relieve some pain and suffering right, not to mention saving $300-$400

you sure that wasn't a reminder to change your oil? first oil change at 500 miles?

First oil change is 1000 miles not 500.

This is getting to be a common problem. Expect new cam pumpnand plate at the least and a complete new motor at most if this problem is like the others with the same symptoms.

It may be the low oil pressure issue we have heard reported...

Man i am so excited for my bike to come next week, this is a bummer. Keep us updated on what happens. Maybe they should have tested 2.5 million miles. LOL. How could they not have come across this. I was hoping for a good engine with nothing bad, wishful thinking i guess
