Louder?
ok so now on to the next step. Need louder. Have rz42000d factory hk radio hcx165 in fairing and fosgate In lids. Next step? The amp has way more power left in it. Do I get better fairing speakers?? Aftermarket head unit? Really loud and clean sitting still but not loud enough on highway. Also I still say fosgate in fairing was louder but hcx much cleaner sound. I don't like lower fairings so need ideas on more sound

And the chase continues.
I would suggest replacing the head unit as those stock hu's have tons of distortion after half volume.
The rz4 2000 only puts out around 90 watts or so at 4 ohms as per the sticky amp test.
The HCX 165 have a rms of 100 watts and with take 180watts all day long with a clean signal.
I would suggest a more powerful amp.
I am using the Soundstream PN4 1000D going to a set of HCX 165 and a set of ARC 602s and can hear it clear as day at highway speeds

Ok. Pn41000d on the way. Suggested head unit?? Want everything I can get out of this setup. Would love to have one that you can put your phone inside of it to charge it. Not concerned with waterproof I've had tons of radios on boats and waterproof never made a difference. And when you say clear as day. Loud too?? My buddies bike you would have to turn volume down on highway. He was all jl audio

alpine, kenwood and sony hu are the favorites here too. as far as phone storage to charge, add a charge port to your saddlebag. i firmly believe the more times you remove a faceplate from a hu, the sooner the connection pins will fail
