HELP! Apparent Injector leak?-img_20160929_085856_01.jpg

So I just bought this bike, an all stock 2012 883 Iron (decided to leave the crotch rocket life behind me), and shes been going strong for about a month. I am absolutely in love with her. Haven't been riding hard or anything. Just cruising.

I looked at her this morning and there are two nice sized puddles of gas underneath the engine. To my untrained eye, I traced the origin of the leak to my injector assembly. I didn't have a chance to look too in depth into what the issue was, a mans gotta work, but I'm perplexed/worried/clueless as to what to do next.

Can anyone provide me any insight as to what could cause this? Better yet, how to fix it? My next call will be to Hellbender Harley, but they wont be open for a bit.

Wow that's a lot of gas!
Haven't heard anything on here about injectors leaking, I guess the thing to do would be to dry it up and pressure up the fuel pump and look for a leak to determine exactly where it is leaking.

Thanks for the help. I think its been leaking all night. Think its safe to start? Id really like to not have to tow it to get serviced, but I also don't want to blow myself up in the process.

I'd try to identify where it's leaking before starting, may just be the line connector to the injector is loose.
When you shut if off the line is still pressurized so that's why it leaked so much all night, I would think you can locate the leak without starting it just by having the key on and the fuel system pressured up.

Ah okay. I really appreciate it! It got much cooler last night than it has in the past so maybe an o-ring shrunk a bit and cause the leak. It seemed to be leaking a drop every 5 seconds or so. Fingers crossed. I'll take a more detailed look at it tonight when I get home.

That's much more likely. One would think that for an injector to leak that much fuel overnight, the ignition would have to be left on keeping the fuel pump on and fuel system pressurized.

Good news! Just sat down and really looked at the y junction for the injectors and one of the o rings had slipped out so I wasn't making a good seal. As soon as I pressurized the system it sprayed pretty good so thanks for that suggestion! 5 minutes later and I reseated the o ring on the front injector, re primed, no leak! Runs like a champ. Thanks so much for the help guys!

Curious that it slipped out?

Good thing to check occasionally.
